Starting a business - Canadian wholesalers
 

anyone know of any Canadian wholesalers (preferebly in the Toronto area). Im looking to buy a large amount of audio products (over 5k worth) and was curious to see if anyone had any recommendations on shops to check out.. it seems that major manufacturing companies dont want to deal with smaller guys (looking to sell mainly from home).

Any recommendations?

5K is a system not an order. Dealers buy 10,000 20,000 at a time ( or more )

Most manufactures will not sell to you due to there products ending up on Ebay or the internet and upsetting there brick and mortar dealers ( there are more of them then there are of you ) and its far cheaper to keep a dealer then to find a new one.

For 5G's you probably looking to get drop shipped as well which means we do all the leg work and you have very little vested cash.

Hey is can happen but there are only very few brands that will do it.

You might want to look into the US for that sort of setup. Canada is a very tight niche when it comes to audio. And unless you have a store front as well you options will be the likes of Pyle, Pyramid, Legacy, Lanzar, Jensen and so on. Big brands almost impossible.

Problem with the U.S drop shippers is that I dont think I can get the products into Canada without the paying of dutties? And as mentioned above, drop shippers seem to be an option, but the margin for profit is very slim.

I know 5K is not a lot in comparison, but its a starting point. Im looking for long term business

Not to mention there is no drop shippers in Canada for car audio. None that I have found anyways. And yes your customers or you would be subject to duties, brokerage and taxes and so on.

So you doubt any "smaller" audio stores would sell at wholesale prices if I bought in "bulk" without a storefront?
I have a buddy doing the exact same thing in the U.S... he does have a source though. I believe he started with 2k and is now into 6figures.

No its a whole different market here not to mention the winters things slow down for retail sales. Here companies most likely will not do that in fear of losing lines. The states its done all over so its very hard to control.

I can tell you HU's are duty free, everything else you would have to find out on the internet or call a customs brokerage company, I am going through to be a customs broker, so I know a little.

We have always paid 7% on HU's if made overseas.

all HU's are duty free? Mp3/cd/amfm?
What about taxes?
