My system is finally up and running, but I'm hearing a static noise coming out of the tweeters. My system consists of a Pioneer 4800 headunit, Infinity 7541 Amp, and MTX 6001 Components. From what I can tell, the noise is also coming out of the mids and the rear coaxial's( which are not amped), but its barely noticeable. My power and remote cables are ran on one side of the car while the speaker wires and RCA's are on the other. The noise gets the louder as I turn up the volume. I unplug the RCA's on the amp and the noise was still there. Any ideas as what the problem could be?

 

Well 2 things, you mention no amp power on the coax, static still with the RCa's unplugged right?

You did not mention if the static comes with engine on, or off, lets say the engine is running... if your RCA's are unpligged, you already have your solution, the problem comes from the HU itself. Not from the amplifier.

1 unplug the RCA's, check for static on the rear speakers, then check the front speakers, got a friend to rev a little your engine, put attention on your tw's...
If the static is only on the coaxials the problem is on the HU, if the static is on the front set the problem is on the amplifier.

Check on your grounds, check, where are you taking the power for the HU, do not take it from the OEM Harness...

The static is there both when the engine is on and off, even when the volume level is at 0. There is no difference when the engine is reved. I unplugged the RCA 's and the noise was still present in both the front components and the rear coaxials.

It does get quieter with the gain turned down, but its still there.

 

to eliminate possibilities which you've already done, I'd disconnect every speaker and the retry them one by one to make sure its not a short in one of them.

....only thing left that it could be by the sounds of it is either the deck or a speaker connection as you seem to have eliminated the RCA's and the amp

 

I just disconnected the speakers and reconnected them making sure that no wire was exposed, however its still the same.

I did find something interesting though. I was trying to hear the noise in the rear coaxils, so I turned the front speakers off on the headunit, and the noise was still there. Any idea what that would mean?

 

Not sure, but i will put my money on a faulty HU, i think you told us u have your rear speakers wired tu the HU, two things, a faulty HU or the static cames from the cars computer, theres no other thing to look for...

unplug your hu, use a MD, MP3 player, use an external source an tell us what happened...

I don't think it can be the Headunit because I unplugged the RCA's so there was no connection between the Speakers and Headunit, yet the noise was still there.

 

Thats your answer, your coax are not amped, that means your coax are wired to the HU, and that, my friend is the smallest expression in the audio chain.

If you have a speker connected to the HU, theres no kore to say, if you can hear the static, is in your HU, that means your engine is not running, your car switch is in off position, what means theres no power on the cars PCM, so, theres other thing to check up?

Now if you plug your component speakers to your amp, and bridge the REM, and plug your iPod to the amplifier, you are using an external source right? the engine is not running a theres no power on the cars PCM, and theres static, probably you can blame the amplifier...

BUT, you told us theres no rca, theres no signal on the amplifier, but if if you wanna feel like a sure, go a short the amplifier RCA inputs, i think you know how to do that.

Even i gave you a link with the Audiocotrol's techpaper to troubleshoot your system. I think you already have done that, don't you?

Well, test again, and again, if tha static comes from both channels, probably can be a loose solder inside the HU, but as I told you, I'll put my money on the Faulty HU possibility...
