Stereo in a hybrid vehicle - any do's or dont's?

Hey Folks,

As some of you may have seen, i'm researching new vehicles. I'm contemplating some of the hybrid vehicles, most recenlty a Ford Escape Hybrid.

If I do grab something i'll probably try and stick with the factory navigation/speakers/sub. If I do decide thats not enough and wish to go to the aftermarket, are there any major upfront issues being that it's a hybrid? I don't know if a hybrid just has the one crazy battery in the back, or if they also have a normal battery up front like any regular engine would have? Is the strain of a stereo troublesome on these batteries etc etc.

Any general comments or website pointing is appreciated.

i was actually thinking about this... i guessing there is still an alternator sooo just upgrade it bigger and run a new line to a comple seperate battery

is it a silonoide that they use so one battery doesnt suck on the other one??? but anyway im sure that would work though and still have the cars regular batteries operating the car

excellent link all in all....pretty well exactly what i was looking for, but I hear you with the idea of adding a second battery.

Thanks for the help!!!

I would check about voiding the warranty first though...it would really suck to get a brand new hybrid and have no warranty cause you added some stereo equipment.

Just curious if you've checked out the user feedback on the Ford Hybrid? When I checked it out there was more than a few owners that were getting mileage not too far off the regular Escape model. I would be rather pissed if I paid the extra $$$ for the Hybrid and didn't get a decent improvement in fuel economy. I would be really tempted to get the extra warranty also with a Hybrid model if you plan on keeping it for more than a couple years.
