Cool Still Mildly Lost

Okay,
I went to a local shop and got looking at a 15" JBL sub. Salesman told me the only amp they had to power it was a blaupunkt amp...whats the word on these as ive never heard of them before?
For an Alpine deck, 15" JBL sub and box, Amp and installation wiring and harnesses, I was quoted $950 taxes inc.

This a good deal?

Need some good advice

Considering that your quoted price is $950, I'm going to take an educated guess that your looking at a JBL GTO1514D.

The RMS wattage on this particular sub is 350W. Since its of a dual-4 ohm voice coil configuration, you can wire the voice coils to present a 2 ohm load to the amplifier.

I would suggest an amplifier than can supply 750W @ 2 ohms. You'll be allowing for more than double the RMS. Just be careful that you're not abusing the sub.
An amp capable of 500W @ 2 ohms would suffice. He should be able to hook it up for you in that configuration.

Yeah, give us the model numbers of the sub and amp.

We'll help you out.

Yes thats the correct sub and im not positive on the model number on the amp. Ill go back to the store maybe today and look at it but they guy said the amp has way to much power for the sub, but is the only mono amp he has that will power it.

If the shop sells JBL subs, I'll assume he sells JBL amps as well...

______Be Right Back_______

JBL GTO7001 This amp'll do 700W @ 2 ohm. Perfect. Perhaps he doesn't sell it, or carry JBL amplifiers. But if he does, then get this one.

If you go to the shop today, take a pen and a pad of paper with you. Right down all the model numbers of all the Mono amps in your price range. Then post the list up here. And we'll decide if more than that Blaupunkt are up to the task.

Is, say, $1000 your limit for the gear you're looking for? Did you want to spend less than the $950?

What Alpine deck are you looking at, and how much are you spending on it?

Depending on what is important to you, it might be a better use of your money to get a less expensive head-unit, and have more coin to spend on a decent amplifier.

The DD sub I quoted you on will eat that sub up and spit it out. Nail down a firm budget and I will rework your quote around that. I will keep you from becoming lost.

I've already said to go with a single 12" sub and matching amp. The 15" your looking at is fine, but you will still get better results with a different combination. And you can certainly get it cheaper!

Okay,
The sub is the GTO 15" in a bassworx box and the sub is the Blaupunkt THA 1350. I want an Alpine deck which costs $150 mainly for the aux hook up. With installation, wiring, harnesses, and taxes itll run me $950.
Any diff suggestions?
