Stupid mofoing head unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE MONEY!
 

Ahhh. I have been running my HU on the aux with my mp3 player hooked up cuz my cd's randomly stop. I decided to pop a cd back in after a few days cuz the mp3 player is really quiet. When I did the HU hit its record and stopped in under a minute. Pulled the cd out and popped it back in and it was making a wierd noise like it couldn't even read the cd and it never was able to. So I have a brand new broken head unit and don't know what the hell to do with it.

Soo, I am wondering if a head unit with the following qualities exists:

3 preouts
great sq
very realiable (doesn't skip, die, etc)
And this is the one that will get you guys - Under $200 :laugh:(MABY even go for $250)

It could look like a lump of dog **** sitting in my dash as long as it has those features and i'd be more than happy. I lost $240 on the last HU and I don't want to screw it up again. Thanx guys for any suggestions.

I'm starting to think the Alpine 9813 & 9815 are some of the better late model units, at least for Alpine. Their faceplates are sturdier than the newer models and they have better button feel, and have more tweakability than the 2006 units. MP3 and CD functions has been flawless for me.

9813 averages $170 on eBay
9815 averages $225 or so.

The only reason why I question alpine on their lower end models is the 2v outs. I am not sure if I want to go back to 2v. But then again alpine rules so maby their 2v is better than (for example) kenwoods 5v :dunno:.

The 2003 models I mentioned are advertised at 4V, but it has been said the sub out was less than advertised. No big deal though, people liked the performance anyway. Pre-2003 models are also well built but if you go back too many model years you start to lose features like MP3/WMA.

You're right, most of the 2006 models are 2V. They also lost the V-Drive amp, motorized swing-face, and time correction, etc.

Alpine seem to have gone down-market lately, which is why I went with a used 9813.

Ahh, I guess i didn't see the "late model". That stinks. Alpine can't go down the drain. I will slap someone. Their demo vehicles are always sick and I would hate to see them use their popularity for selling shatty equipment.

Went outside to move my vehicle and put in a cd and now it just won't stop skipping. It will play for like 1/2 sec then skip then play for 1/2 sec then skip and over and over. I checked out my cd's and they are all scratched to beat hell. The scratches aren't deep just the same pattern on all of the discs (trust me, i treat my cd's very well so it is for sure the cd player).

theres no warranty on this cd player ???

The Eclipse CD2000 and CD3000 are both going to land in this price range.

Definitely go with eclipse. I've experienced better sound quality with my eclipse cd8053 than with alpine's cda-9855, both running off the same amp and components. Plus, eclipse still makes an 8v reciever, the cd5000, and if you go back further they have 16v balanced outputs on the cd8053 and cd8051. I've never ever ever had one of my eclipse deck's skip on me... in the winter I slid over a curb sideways, bent all 4 steel rims and the cd never once skipped.

My sister had a cd3000 I bought her and she loved it versus her alpine. I'm not sure which model alpine she had, was a cheaper one though. The cd3000 has a nice looking face on it, and has the best internals you can buy for that price.

Then she couldn't wait 2 days for me to hook it up in her new car, so she let her boyfriend try to hook it up... now she's got a broken cd3000.:appl:

Oh geese! I totally forgot about eclipse. And actually I was offered one by a member on this board. I checked the prices on cardomain and you guys are right. The 2000 is 200 and the 3000 is 249. I actually installed a 3000 into one of my friend's trucks. I am pretty sure this will be what I choose. The only downside is that the manuals are as thick as bibles. Haha, but I suppose I could use some reading material in school. Thanx guys for the tips.

I did not get a reciept when I ordered from woofersetc.com . I don't know what the deal is but I am pretty sure that if I don't have a reciept they won't give me my money back. So in a way they kinda screwed me over.
