Sub/Amp combo suggestions.

Hi, Today my brother took his 12" Alpine Type R and V12 amp back, as he toasted the flywheel in his car and he's driving his winter vehicle until this spring. Now I'm looking for my own Sub/Amp. I don't need or want anything as expensive as a Type R and v12 amp. I'm looking for something in a 10 or 12 inch maybe 3 or 4 hundred watts. I'm lookg to spend around $300 maybe a bit more if possible. I'd just like to know what you guys think i can get for this much, and if i should spend an extra 50 bucks and get something slightly better or whatever the case may be. Another thing, I don't have a problem with building my own box to save a bit of cash.
Thanks, Richard.

Oh its possible, Haha... I'd say that 300 is really low. But my first amp/sub set up was $80 brand new so it is possible. Yer prolly going to be looking into boss equipment. Or if you can get ahold of some factory renewed stuff. Visit some of the site sponsers there are usually a few deals on them sites.

Is the $300 only for the sub and amp itself or is installation included? If you're looking for a sub and amp installed for $300 you may have a bit of a challenge on your hand...As Lspade69 said...Check with a couple of the site sponsors and see what you can get on that budget...but don't count on it being much...

and check the for sale section.

I mean 300 for just the sub and amp. And I'm not expecting anything fantastic, it's just that the speakers in my car are horrible at anything below 100Hz. Thanks again.

if i were you i would wouldn`t settle. if you save up some cash and do a bit of bargin hunting you might be able to get something better or something that might satisfy in the long run.

so may times i`ve settled for gear and than changed my mind and had to spend more to replace it.

take a look at those fosgate p2`s or 3`s. they hit pretty hard for the buck.

get a used amp that puts out an honest 300 watts, and an Infinity ref 1230 or similar. I sold an MTX 420 watt amp to a member on here for $80.00, and many Infinity refs for $50.00, and that combo was very nice sounding. It won't set a world record, but it sounds great. Most of the members on here are stand up guys/gals, and most won't sell you junk.

for just under 300$ I am getting an Eclipse SW6000 sub and XA1000 amp from Ebay but that excludes the box, wiring and installation.

Sub is 300w RMS 1000 peak.

With the warranty issues I have had with the entry level Eclipse subs, I would not sell you one. The amps are great, the higher end subs are amazing but the basic subs suck arse. Considering that purchasing off E-bay = zero warranty on Eclipse, you just might want to consider that.
