well I'm bulding a box for my 3 lightning audio subs and I want to build a ported box but my manufactor doesn't recommed a ported box. A firend told me if I build it it will make my subs sound like crap.. another friend told me that it wouldn't but if not how big of a box/ port size and tuned to what Hz???

here is my stats

FS(Hz): 29
QTS: 0.359
VAS (cu.ft.): 1.45
VAS (liter): 1.45
Xmax (in.): 0.292
Xmax (mm): 7.30
SPL (dB M/W): 86.4
Speaker Dis. (cu.ft.) 0.06

i'm no expert, but i do know that generally, proted boxes are just a little bigger then the sealed ones. it won't end up sounding that bad if you make a ported box, it just won't have the same "bump" as a sealed one. the power handling will be a little different too. but yeah, build a box a little bigger then the 1.45 cu ft. x3 which would be almost 4.5 cu ft....but that's kinda big...in any case, just build a big box and test it out.

like i said i'm no expert....

Their parameters definitely lean towards a sealed design..

If you want loud though, go with 4 cubes tuned at 36Hz with a pair of 4-inch round vents, each with a length of 8.9 inches.. That'll be real loud around 50Hz

well my subs take 400 RMS (each) and 800 max and well I'm getting a 1500 watt amp at 2 ohm and the sub will be playing at 2.67 ohms so how much power should I be giving them???
