sub recommendations....?

So over the course of the years building car stereo I have gone through many amps and even more subs then i can remember, like most have you have also. I want to have one clean stereo, maybe something sealed to maximize space and still sound good at all levels/frequencies - one final install that will do it so i don't have to mess around and change it every 3 months like i have been doing as of late.

right now i have 2 RF T2's. I will soon be getting a RF T20001bd amp because it's badass and i have only had great experiences with RF amps. i think it will last. the only thing is i don't have the space for those and i can't put them in a sealed box for the install i want to do (maybe fibgreglass or something with a more "show" setup).

I was thinking maybe 2 15" in a large sealed box and at one time i toyed with the idea of 4 12" type R's in a sealed. i think the 15's would be best. i listen to a lot of hip hop/rap and i want it to get low and rumble so i think that large cone might help.

can anybody suggest some 15's that have 1000rms (dual 4ohm is what i would need) and would work/sound well in a sealed box?!? not sure about kicker L7's, so looking for other suggestions. price is important so nothing TOO crazy.

Thanks,
Justin

That is a crapload of power for a system built to sound good. It can be done sure, why so much power though? Good subs that can handle the abuse that the amp is sure to dish out are going to soak up some good $. Eclipse titanium series come to mind, DD3500 series as well. The Eclipse will be more accurate than the DD's in a sealed box but they will also be more loot at the end of the day. Do you have a budget on new subs or you will spend what you must to get the right set of speakers. What is the balance of the system and the vehicle?

RE SE15's would work nice specs rate it at 600W rms but should handle double that all day long. And the sealed requirements are .75 and 1cbft for optimal performance and can be had at a decent price.

awesome. thanks for the info! looking to hear anything else.

i know you have to pay to play, but i want to do it once and do it right so if i have to spend some cash then thats okay as long as it will last me

15" L7's HIT HARD. No lie man, I've heard 2 in a sealed box before, holy those things are nuts...

elemental spv :D

"Peak Power : Unknown
Weight : 55Lbs
Size : Big
Application : Vented Box Only. (2.2cF and up)
Tons of Motor. 90dB 1w/1m (seems ironic becuase it LOVES POWER!)
Tons of Excursion : 28mm one way
Ideal for : The guy who manages to blow everything else.
Projected Price : Around 350.
Coils : D2"

i guess someone plugged one into the wall, apparently had NO problem handling 3600 watts at 60hz.

have u used it, or is it a new internet forum boner? :dunno:

Looks like you are more into spl, rather than sq, so you could go with a pair of DDs. Like 3515? I'm not too familiar with them, MR2NR or anyone who touched those would know better, right? :)

ya, i am def more into SPL but i don't want to deal with port tuning and GIANT boxes that look like so i want big subs with big power in a stylish box (i am more of a show car and it's still a daily driver). hopefully it will still be loud but sound decent.

where can i get DD subs? how much do they run?

If you're limited on space I would highly suggest you go with a single 15" ported instead of trying to squeeze two 15's in small sealed enclosure's.

Look for a 15" driver that will give good SQ and have brutal output with the ability to take the power of that amp.
DD9500 and the new RE XXX are two that come to mind. XXX will look sick inverted if you want to save space and get that "show" look at the same time.
