Sub seems low on power?
 

Hello all im new to the forum. I recently installed a sound system in my car and im having an issue with the sub. It is not getting very loud at all and if i want it to bump it dosent do a whole lot.

Its a 10' Image Dynamics iDQ sub. The box says it can run from 500rms-800rms but may explode around the 800rms mark lol. My sub set up consists of

- 4AWG Rockford Fosgate amp wiring kit running from the battery.
- 4AWG Rockford Fosgate ground wire about 16 inches from the amp.
- Alpine PDX-M6 Mono block amp rated at 600rms @ 4 & 2 ohms. Actuall power rating is 658rms.
- From the amp to the sub im using 16AWG JL audio wires i had laying around.
- The signal wire is attached to the same signal wire as the 4 speakers in the front and the 4 channel amp.
- I also have a sub level knob connected to the amp and mounted in the front of the car.

Would the 16AWG JL wire be holding me back in terms of how much power the sub is getting from the amp?
Also is having the signal wire in the exact same spot hurting the proper sub signal? My headunit is a kenwood exelon single din headunit.

Where are your gain and crossover set at?

What you filter set at for the sub on hu?

the gain and crossover is set at the middle/ factory range. I messed with them a bit but increasing either didnt seem to make it sound "better". On the headunit it dosent seem to matter what i set the filter/frequency or bass level. It just does not hit as hard as it should. What i mean by having both signal wires in the same spot is that each amp has a signal wire that needs to go to the headunit. BOTH of my signal wires are attached to the same signal wire spot on my headunit wire harness. Is the subwoofer amp signal wire sapost to go to a different signal wire location than the 4 channel amp signal wire for the speakers?

What's the model number of the hu and the 4 ch amp?

Can you post a pic of the wire harness you are talking about that connects the signal wires from amps to hu?

Some pics would really help to understand ho you wire up things.

Alpine MRX-F65 is the 4 channel amp. I dont have any pics of the wiring from the signal wires going from BOTH amps to the SINGLE wire connection on the headunit. What im asking is each individual amp signal wire supost to go to a different wire on the headunit harness?

What kind of car is it, where is the sub enclosure exactly, and what direction does the woofer face? If you have a car with a trunk and the box is up behind the seat with the woofer facing the seat, cancellation can occur and no changes on the amp will help. Try turning the box around.

Its a 2000 Chevy Camaro. The sub is in the trunk mounted in the driver side corner in an enclosure custom made for my car. It is facing towards the wheel-well on the opposite side of the car with the back of the sub facing toward the other wheel well.
