Question Sub suggestions - your 2 cents needed!

Hi all,

I'll be adding a subwoofer to my system soon and would like your recommendations for a single woofer setup.. here is the equip I have installed already:

Alpine 9883 head unit
Infinity 6.5" 2 way fronts
MTX thunder 6x9 rears

Amp is a Rockford Fosgate Punch 500X 4ch. I'd like to power the 6x9 with 2 of the channels and bridge the other two channels to a 2 ohm sub.

The amp manual shows the output to be 250W @ 4 ohm (bridged) so I'm assuming a 500W rms power rating will be required for @ 2 ohm.

My last system (many years ago lol ) had a RF punch 200 bridged to 3 x 10" JL W5 subs in a sealed box in the trunk of a civic HB and I loved the sound but I'm older now and want to keep it simple. This will be going into an '05 civic coupe.

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated!

No, bridged isn't 2 ohm stable, unless you have a super amp that has 4 channels that are 1 ohm stable.

With 200w at 4 ohms, I'd say get an entry level MTX sub with a single 4 ohm coil.

oh poo... I thought I had this all figured out lol

So looks like I can run 250W rms to a 4 ohm sub... any other suggestions?
