Thinking about putting 2-15" subs ported in my new fun mobile. Your opinions please...Image dynamics IDQ15 or eD 16kv2. looking for hair raising, skin tingling, tight, clean bass. I listen to primarily bass guitar, kick drum type bass. I have never used these brands before and would like some input from you guys. I am familiar with JBL, Alpine and MTX 15" subs...how do the eD and ID compare...just looking to broaden my experience as I have no problems with the sound of the JBls I cuurently have.

anyone familiar with these subs please respond. I am leaning towards the eD 16kv2 subs, they are a lot cheaper 350.00/pair versus 399.00 each for the IDQs. I've run both on winisd and the plots are very similar with the eDs a little louder from about 50hz and the IDs slightly louder below that. Both seem to be excellent drivers with very good xmax, cone displacement, magnet strength and build quality. I know the IDs are award winning subs, but I have heard pretty good things about the eDs. So, anyone with experience with these two or each one can enlighten me.
thanks in advance.

Sorry but, if you have no problems with the sound of the current setup then why bother messing with it?
Do you want it louder, cleaner, tighter? What?
What are you running for subs and power now and what do you expect to gain in the end?

Answer these and it will be easier to help you.

The IDQ subs havn't changed in almost 10 years... and they still win sound quality competitions, and put up some nice SPL numbers. personal oppinion... go with the IDQ's, a little more spendy, but definitely worth the money.

I'm with Sassmaster. I've got a couple of IDQ12's in my cavalier. They hit hard, the SPL is painful, and the bass is as, if not more, tight as the two 10" MTX Thunder6000 subs in a ported dual-bandpass I had before these. Before I got the soundproofing put in my car, my IDQ's did an SPL test of 141.4dB.

Happy choosing!

This is a system for a new car I bought, that is just a weekend, warm summer night toy. I have used the current brands of equip for as long as I can remember, so I'm looking to try some new stuff and learn something new. Maybe I'll find out that I like the old tried and true better, very possible since I love it right now, but why not experiment a little. After all, it's only money. Besides, if Grandma didn't try putting those hot peppers in the meatballs 50 years ago, we wouldn't have the masterpiece we have today...ahh Grandma's meatballs...sorry I was dreaming.

I have a pair of V1 idqs in my car. Very nice, and you should be able to find them cheaper than that.

Hardwrkr 04-06-2005 10:27 PM

What amplifier will you be running these drivers from and how much airspace do you have?

That is the price quoted by chase car audio(official dealer from kankar) for each IDQ15 v2, if you know where I can get them cheaper let me know.
