Subs over powering the Front

Ok here is my problem, highs and mids are not as loud as my subs...i have a set of CDT CL62 running off a 100 wrms per chan alpine amp...

I was thinking about just upgrading the speakers and the amp to something like 200 watts rms...but i was wondering what other options i have?

What sub are you running? Ported or sealed? How much power? Those are all things to take into consider. Having more power will not always translate into louder speakers as well. Also, what areas of your fronts are you most lacking in? Midbass, higher end, etc?

Can you turn down the subwoofer on your HU? Or would you like the speakers to be as-loud? IMO Upgrade your amp to a 200-250W, they're getting 50W each, and they take 120W RMS (on the 06's).

HP them @ 100hz and then they can take more power.. Deaden your doors... Get an image tweeter set (upstage) from CDT. Get it with aluminum or titanium tweeters and change yours to match. If your tweeter is silk you might just find a brighter tweeter makes it seem louder, more aggressive. I prefur titanium in my setup rather then silks.

I would check your setting on your amp and see if you set them wrong, if that doesnt work mat up your doors and either swap your amp or both amp and speakers

Sometime HU will not fade a sub output completely so you can buy an inline level control that zeros right out. This way you can play with the balance and try and match it as much as possible.

Yea its missing a whole lot of midbass, basically when the subs are on i hear lows and highs with a bit of mid-highs in there...i dont have the space for a 8" i wanna keep it to a 2-way comp set.

Subs are 2 type rs 12" ported off a 1605D ... my deck is 680mp so it does have the sub level thing but to make it level out with the speakers i have to turn it down anywhere from -10<->-5 and it makes the bass sound weird.

Ok so sound deadening i will do regardless...should i keep these comps and get upstage with a new amp say around 150 rms per chan (i have 100 x2 right now) or should i just get the new amp and get a better pair of comps?

btw i love silk dome...i dont like the harshess of tit.

lok to see if you have a low/high pass on the amp

ported 02-24-2007 11:57 PM

yea i do i turned all the high/low pass off on the amp and everything, i use the decks high pass and set it at 80 since im giving them 100 and they are rated at 130 rms @ 100 hz hp.
