Subs wont work. Any ideas?
Whats up guys,
First post and Im looking for a little help. I have 2 2012 Alpine Type R 12's being ran with an MB Quart Onyx 2000.1 amp. The Subs are DVC 2 Ohms wired at 2 Ohms and the amp pushes 1300 watts at 2 Ohms (so underpowering the subs). However, it seemed a few days ago my power cord was coming loose from the amp (if I slightly bumped it in my car the subs would work again) and so I thought nothing of it and put it back in tightly after this. Then I discovered a burning smell once, and then once more. It only happened twice over the course of me running the subs probably 10 separate times. I couldnt figure out what it was.
So it was still having the same problem, so I restripped the wire and put it back in. There is no way it is loose now. And I have no sound from the subs no matter what I do. Amp still has power running to it, it lights up. However the "power protect" light isnt lighting up.
All other connections are in perfectly, and the wiring is Belva 0 gauge kit and Ive had this setup since July with no problems. The fuse is 150A and it is supposed to handle up to 1500 watts (so that shouldnt have blown). Im thinking I might have blown a fuse in the amp when the power cord was coming loose? But that still wouldnt explain the burning noise. Ive only been in car audio since March so this is a new problem to me. If any of you guys have any ideas I would really appreciate it. This system cost me a good chunk of change for a teenager and I absolutely love it. Please, if anyone has any ideas, let me know.
