Subsonic filter question

i Recently bought a jbl BP 1200.1 and ive read up and apparently they have no SS filter , is this actually affecting anything? If so how and why? and more inportant if it is how do i fix it if its a big deal. Thanks

so called 'subsonic' filters are used to remove the lower bass frequencies, generally to prevent a subwoofer from playing below tuning in a ported box.

If you have a setup where you are ported above 30hz then you could run into trouble with the sub unloading (which can cause mechanical damage)

In your sig. it says your box is tuned to 35hz.....is it a ported box??

Unfortunately AFAIK there is no standalone SS filter available for mobile use....if you are running a sealed box it is not as much of an issue, a ported box will be a problem if you play loud music or test tones below the tuning frequency.......:smokin:

Actual term is "Infra Sonic" having to do with hearing, not the speed of sound, as in Sub-sonic speed.
and I agree, not an issue unless your LP is warped ;-)

Get yourself a outboard active crossover that has a subsonic filter built into it. IIRC I have one at the shop that has overdone it's welcome. I will check tomorrow on it and pricing for it.
