Subsonic filter question
i Recently bought a jbl BP 1200.1 and ive read up and apparently they have no SS filter , is this actually affecting anything? If so how and why? and more inportant if it is how do i fix it if its a big deal. Thanks

so called 'subsonic' filters are used to remove the lower bass frequencies, generally to prevent a subwoofer from playing below tuning in a ported box.
If you have a setup where you are ported above 30hz then you could run into trouble with the sub unloading (which can cause mechanical damage) |

Unfortunately AFAIK there is no standalone SS filter available for mobile use....if you are running a sealed box it is not as much of an issue, a ported box will be a problem if you play loud music or test tones below the tuning frequency.......:smokin: HTH |
Actual term is "Infra Sonic" having to do with hearing, not the speed of sound, as in Sub-sonic speed.
and I agree, not an issue unless your LP is warped ;-) |
Get yourself a outboard active crossover that has a subsonic filter built into it. IIRC I have one at the shop that has overdone it's welcome. I will check tomorrow on it and pricing for it.
