Suggestion re 6x8?
 

after being on here a little while, it seems the general concensus is that if you are re-doing your car speakers, you should not bother changing your stock 6x9s in the rear and instead spend more money on your front speakers. Correct?
That being said. What would be a good set of 6x8 speakers for the front without breaking the bank. so lets say under $170ish.
What should i look for in a speaker (besides how it sounds)? 2 way, 3 way? should it put out good bass, or none? have blaring tweeters? etc Is there any one spec to look at over another?
i'm not looking for component speakers as i don't want to do any modifications to my vehicle for placing tweeters.
I've heard some people mention clarion as a good choice. Would the srq6830c be a good choice? what about jbl gto8628? or infinity? I'm trying to stay away from the kappa stuff as the price in Canada is ridiculous compared to the US, although i could always buy from down there i suppose and save a bundle having it shipped. But would the reference 6832cf be a good choice?

It seems the market is dominated by the 6.5 speaker, are they better? should i go with a smaller 6.5 instead of a 6x8? is that even a possibility..

Eclipse makes a great set of speakers for you. I might even be able to squeeze a set of pointsource speakers into that price range for you as well. I have a great pair of Polk MMC570 5x7 or 6x8 . These fit ford/mazda 6x8.
Retail for over $200. Yours for $75 plus shippping. These are great speakers with separate cross over just like component speakers. Same class as the infinity kappas. I Have those too in a minivan and love them both.
