Suggestions for 1K rms 12" sub?

I think I lost a coil on the ol' RF this morning, despite watching my clipping indicator and listening closely.
My AQ will do close to 1200W at the voltage I can throw at it, so I'm thinking a 12"
D2 ohm sub rated for 1000W should fit the bill. I had been eyeing a DD2512 but they're only 750W, and the 3500 is 1200w.
IA Death Penalty is rated for 1K, but looks identical to the DD 2500... Any other sugegstions? SQL is the goal.

Thanks!

I guess it depends on how often and how long you really wang on it but the 2512 looks to fit the bill to me.

I plan on driving a 500rms woofer with a 1000 or so and I used to run my 200watt 8s at over 300 a piece. All depends on your listening habits.

I wang on it every chance I get, but I DO try and be concientious to the sub about it. Pushing it hard is very different to pushing it past its limits to me. (I have to get my head around the fact that ratings on such a commercially available sub like my RF are probably 'different' than boutique brands made by car audio fanatics like DD, AudioQue, DC, etc)
Thanks for the input.

what about and HDC3 or HDC4??
i am loving my hdc315c with 2000rms

The RMS specs on the Rockford are probably conservative.

I've heard of people pushing the Skar VVX 12's with up to 2000w RMS. They're rated very conservatively at 600w. If you need a box too they're doing a special right now that's $359.99 shipped for 2 woofers of your choice and a custom built box. The link to the info on this combo is on the SMD website in the Skar Audio sub forum. Can't connect to the site now or I would link you :P

Have you considered the DC lvl4 or XL? They both have a considerable SQ to them as well as the ability to just pound.

What's your budget?

what rf do you have? eventhough the rms ratings of the 2512 are 750, that is quite conservative. you should have no problem throwing 1000 rms at it

-I forgot about the Audioque HDC3; I'm SUPER impressed with their amp... hmmm.
-Originally I looked at DC, but their CS seems inconsistent.
-I like the Skars but have only room for a box with 1 sub so that special doesn't work, but thanks.
-Budget? Whats that? I have more of a space and power contraint (can't fit a larger amp) so that keeps the sub budget in check.

If any of YOU had about 1200w rms and had to decide between an AQ HDC3 or DD 2512 for about the same cost, which would you pick? Target=SQL, beat on it whenever possible, mostly bass/hip hop music.
