Smile Suggestions for subs

Hi I just got my system installed and it sounds great. Now I'm ready for a subwoofer. I'm looking for a 4 ohm sub that is tight and fast and that is not too hard to drive. Most of the time, I don't miss the sub but with certain electronic music, it would be nice to have one. I'm looking for SQ. My amp has 5 channels. 4 of them are used and I have one left (120W - 4ohms) on which I will put my sub. Any opinions on focal subs? Any suggestions?

My setup is JVC KD-G720 head unit + Ipod
2 Focal Polyglass 690CV1
2 Focal Polyglass 165V1
1 Amp Precision Power 5440

I have a brand new Infinity 1040W 10" cheap and work great. KillerKlown runs them and likes the SQ of them.

Your amp will do 200wrms on the 5th channel. I would recommend the Image Dynamics ID series. Very good performing driver with all types of material, doesn't require a huge amount of space, and it won't break the bank.

Smile Looks nice

They look like fine subs. Do you have a particular model in mind?

Lightbulb

lol this thread is just going to get filled with a list of people's favorite drivers. For instance, I would suggest trying an MTX 5500 or MZS series driver. Why? They're reasonably efficient and generally satisfy people. With the power you have, avoid the temptation to buy some 30kg monster sub.

For sure Focal makes a nice driver as well.

Ain't that the truth.....

I have a set of the V1s in my wife's Aerostar.....I used 3 JL10w0-8'S for her bass needs......

Since your sub channel is 2ohm stable, I would suggest a pair of 10" or 12" 4ohm drivers. The new W1's can be had for less than $200 each and a pair of the 12"s in a ported enclosure will complement the Focals nicely......

my $.02 worth

And of course Pioneer has their Premiere models on sale right now as well
(meaning a no charge 2 year warranty and save some $$$$$$). Good sound is going to be all about the box. Screw up on the box and the best sub in the world is going to sound like shat. What do you plan on doing for the box, buying a prefab and hoping for the best or going with a purpose built box? The latter will allow you to guarantee the results of the sub you choose and also build it to the size and shape to fit your vehicle properly.
