Surround Sound

most 4 speaker car systems are stereo (2ch) audio systems. Rear speakers are mostly place for people in the back or to just generally raise the volume in your car. i was wondering if anyone has experimented with surround sound in car? 4.1 or 5.1 surround system. does a 4ch amplifier accomplish this? i heard about bridging your speakers in a 4 channel amplifier but im not too sure

I guess if you used a 4 channel amp and bridged one set you could use that as a center channel. Say use the rear for this then use the fronts as your left and right... I am just guessing though... Can't see why it wouldn't work.

DVD deck with optical out. a processor with optical in ( like the alpine 701 i beleive?) that will give you your true 5.1.. then you need a 5 channel amp and a mono

I have done two full surround systems. Both of course dvd based, both using dolby digital processors and using a fully amplified system.
