system change?
 

i have a rockford t400-2 amp that is powering 2X JL15W4's right now (continuous is 200 each), would it be a bad idea to pick up two 2x JL12W3.V2 and hook them up to the same amp. i think their continuous is like 300 each. i know it will be a little underpowered?...but will it make them sound like ?.....shud be fine with that rockford power pretty close no?

I would say get a bigger amp, underpowering the subs is not good, what will end up happening is you have to set your gains higher to make them perform but your amp is clipping and heating up the voice coils. You could do it for a while but I recommend getting a bigger amp.

would it be really bad tho....like its fairly close....my amp can provide 200 continous watts per channel....?...like how bad is it in my case because of the close wattage?

100 watts is a lot believe it or not, like I said it will run like that it's not good for the subs. Play it like that for now but get something bigger in the near future. I see people do it all the time with burnt out voice coils. It wouldn't be very expensive to upgrade your amp either.

also.....if i'm not like pushing my system (like my vol goes up to like 62 on my deck...i on avrg play at 45) will that affect the clipping (like less prone) cause i am not in the position to chnage that amp now...i bought it like....a week ago:S

yeah.....from EHR...and got the 3 year warranty....its installed...so i don't think i can swap/return it

ALSO, i heard that as long as i'm not turning my gains up...then underpowering a bit is fine.....cause i'm not trying to overpush my amp and subs....like right now....my subs r 200rms each...and i cud overpower them if i turn up my deck on full.....so do u think the extra 100 per channel....wud be bad....
is any of this true....or maybe if wired differently?
hahah....basically i would love to not worry about changing my amp and just be able to get these new subs....cause the amp was like $500....

Hey I'm just giving you my opinion, you can do it like I said but than if you are not using your subs full potential than why spend the money on changing them. Get different subs that will work better with the amp you have now. I pm'd you about the sound deadening.
