So I got the mid/tweet kicks wrapped in carpet and this will be there approximate position (and yes, I will make a nice baffle trim and all that to pretty it up):
http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...2_161_full.jpg You can see here where the factory plastic kick panel that has an oblong fresh air vent hole is located, behind and above the mid/tweet kick pod I made: http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...2_162_full.jpg After looking into various options, I decided my 7" midbass will be going into the factory vent location. Here is a pic of the panel with the vent flapper door and knob removed: http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...2_160_full.jpg Here is a shot test fitting it in the hole, along with the baffle ring. The final location ended up being higher up in the hole, because the mid/tweet kick overlaps onto the factory kick panel plastic. http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...2_158_full.jpg And another. It fits in there with enough room for me to make a small panel with an aperiodic-mat to go behind the midbass to AP-load it into the kick panel cavity of the truck. http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...2_159_full.jpg I would show pics of it with the supports in place but I don't have current ones of those yet. And here is a shot of the amp rack coming along: http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...2_163_full.jpg |
I have a few shots of the interior and engine as well here:
http://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/307882/6 In the next system build-up I do, the kicks will be all 1 piece with the midbass where they are now, and the 4/tweet flushed into the kick cavity so they will hardly stick out at all. This is just a simple first system to get some sound in. |
Good work dude!
You going with the Alpine EQ(s) and crossover on this install? Mark |
Looks great man, what kind of mids are those? AVI?Gonna use the Power 300 in this install? Hook me up with one of your old BBQ's, I need one.... :D

Very cool start...love the mids.
Maybe I should start working on the Dodge 4X4...hmmmm |
The mids are B&W 7". I, um, aquired them when I worked for a B&W dealer. They are not generally available for purchase. ;)
I do like those Concept amps... |
Nice stuff -- which tweeter are you going to use?
|
Thanks guys :D Ross, I will be using the 300. It's going in the center of the amp rack, flanked by the Alpine eq and xover.
Mike, I'm using a 1" soft dome tweeter: http://memimage.cardomain.com/member...82_82_full.jpg |
^^^^ WHAT BRAND AND MODEL? I can think of about 15 1" Soft dome tweeters I really like....
|
It's a Dynaudio.
Or was it Seas? Maybe a Lanzar? Or RatShak? TangBand? meh - personally I don't care what's on the label as long as they sound good. I have a stash of 1" soft dome tweeters with neo magnets on them. I honestly have NO idea what brand they are but they sound alright, and that is good enuf for me |
