Tactile Transducer (Bass Shaker) - Buttkicker Mini Concert
So after a couple years of curiosity regarding bass shakers, I decided to purchase one simply to have some fun.
I have listened to home theatre systems with bass shakers before, and they definitely add a welcomed effect.
The bass shaker I purchased was a Buttkicker Mini Concert.
I installed this under the front seat of my car, and I am extremely impressed!!!
These are by no means a replacement for a sub, but the effect is wonderful.
-By placing these upfront the bass is brought forward more than time alignment could achieve.
-I can listen with my bass down a bit and have the same effect (I doubt I will do this though:P)
-and my most pleasent suprise is the punch. It has made a ridiculous difference in how tight and hard kick drums hit and the near inaudible rumble of low low notes.
The best thing I find is that sound quality is not sacrificed at all, while giving the impression of a huge low end.
I have no additional rattles due to the shaker either.
Overall, if anyone is looking for really hard hitting kick drums, a dramatically improved low end (psychologically), for not a whole lot of money, these are an amazing buy!!!!
oh, and I have the full rated 250rms at 2ohm going to the shaker.
also an IDmax and MLK-165s.
I imagine it would make even more of a difference with setups with less low end.

which ones have you used before??
the only other ones i have heard are the auras. and they are just fine for special effects in movies, but aren't comparable to this on music.
im pretty sure those are a 25-50watt shaker. so thats probably the difference:P

lol, i was unsure of these too, i thought they would be more of a gimick than anything for car audio.
definitely try them out just for fun if you ever get the chance.
for anyone that doesn't have 8" woofers in their kicks, or some other huge from end, i don't see what isn't to like.

Installation is everything with these though. IMO they should be mounted directly to the seat frame. Mounting to the floor (as a colleague of mine did) provides poor results.

ya, like anything, installation is everything. if you are lucky enough to be able to fit them under the seat thats definitely where the should go.
you would need some serious power and a huge shaker to acheive the same effect if mounting to the floor, rather than seat frame.
it really helps to have flexible crossovers when using these as well. not rated for anything over 200hz.
