Hey guys. Well, I have spent a few nights trying to figure out how to fit 1 of my 15er's into my hatch along with both of my amps and it just isn't going to work. Right now I am dying without bass so I am just going to sell the 15's and buy an sq sub for the time being. I am thinkin of an image dynamics ID 12 inch. They need 400wrms and only 1.5 cubic feet which would be REALLY nice to work with. So here are my questions:

1. What do you guys think of the sub choice($150)? sq? spl?

2. If I hook up this sub to my 1300wrms amp but turn the gains WAY down will I have any problems?

3. How many amperes do you think i'd be usin up on this sub/amp combo at half volume (on the 0 to nonclipping scale (if that makes sense))?

4. How much do you guys think I should sell two 15" kicker cvr's at (DVC 2ohm and the subs are in perfect condition with original packaging and manuals.)?

#3 Take the efficiency of your amp, if it's 80% then you take the rms of the sub which is 400rms. Input*80%=400w there for 400w/80% = 500w. Now do the Ohms law or whatever it is to figure out the amp pull, Which is Amperes = Watts/Volts. So we do 500w/13.5V (which will be your average between 12.5 and 14.4V) and we get an answer of 37A. There is your rough estimate. I suppose somewhere between 35-40 is a pretty good estimate.

Cuz I have an 85 amp alternator. My car will use most of that. My speaker amp will use (guessing) 15 amperes. My h.u. 10? I am basically wonderin if I buy this sub will I still need to buy a bigger alt?

And I will try to find out how to find the amperes needed to make 500w. Thanx for that equation.

I solved it for ya, check my edit. 35-40 amps. You will most definately either have to listen to your audio sparingly or risk a drained battery or get a larger alternator. Best of luck friend.

 

Thank you very much. I think I will have to go for it. I will probably be runing my system sparingly like you suggested, meaning I will be using around 35-45 amperes total and hopefully that will get me through my low cash flow during swimming season. Then when the dough is rollin in I can upgrade my alt.

 

you might want to look into a optima deep cycle as well .if you want to know what your deck and amps draw look at the fuses , or do ohms law

A x R and amps x volts =watts . there are online converters in google that will do this for you if you can't figure it out . not being rude .
