Tighter Bass

I've got two 10" subs in seperate custom fiberglass boxes that are built into my hatchback. Each enclosure measures just over 1.0 cubic foot but the subs are optimized for enclosures with 0.65" volume.

I find the bass is pretty rumbly and I would much prefer a tighter harder hitting sound. Is their anything I can do to improve this?

I was thinking of maybe adding a few layers of dynamat to the inside of the enclosures for lack of a better idea?

Thanks for the help.

Fiberfill not dynamat. That should help drastically with what you want.

ya dont use mat LOL use fiber fill

I thought that fiberfill made the subs act like the box was actually bigger....which I thought would make the bass even looser?

correct, add wood or something in there to make the space smaller, double check that there are no leaks causing the sloppiness first.

oh, and what subs/amps are you using?...crossover points and all that?

Are we talking about a sealed or vented enclosure?

the enclosures are sealed.
