Time to stand up!

not sure how anyone else feels about this subject, but I for one have had it with manufacturers that won't stand up and do what is right for their retailers.

This is what is pissing me off. I am now expected to lose $20 per radio to stay competetitive?? don't think so. who supplies XM in here? PM me

Order $2million in XM and you will probably get cost pricing that would keep you from having to lose money. :dunno:

I agree - it absolutely sucks for independents when stuff like that happens (fyi - your link does not work but the point is obvious) but what can you do? Stop selling XM? hm... Box stores sell Sirius too..

Guess you have to come up with something else.

Why would the XM supplier have to PM you? You should know who it is and be able to call them up no?

Ya I hear ya, and you know what, the manufactures also start up rebate and discounts for individual store chains. For example you carry a xm radio that is the same as a big box store unit. The manufacture may start a maunfacture mail in rebate so you asume if its a manufactures mail in rebate that your customer would also receive it. However on the terms and conditions states that the retail receipt must be from that particular store. !?!?!?! What a crock or crap. I agree with one

Dude, no offence but you are just noticing this now? My favorite is a chain that sells a TV that costs you $1550 in 2 lot for $1500 then $1300, then $1200... and then when you read the fine print it is "demos only", but consumers don't know that.

I just try to avoid these products where possible, keep inventory tight, give great service and let clients know if they want big box price, they can have big box (lack of) service...

I think XM will do just about anything to take some of the canadian market share away from SiriusCan.

I think FS will do just about anything to take marketshare away from everyone else....

Brad-S.A. 06-25-2006 12:43 PM

I second that ^

I agree too - but that's the goal of any corporate machine. There is no 'sharing'

This tends to be everyones business strategy, to be #1.

FS is just a giant, and is well marketed.

I don't even try to compete with the big box guys, I offer a service that the big box guys don't, so don't sweat it, if you keep trying to compete you are going to go nowhere. Do your own thing and make your customers aware of what sets you apart the the big box stores and trust me they will stay with you, if not oh well.
