Just curious to hear how everyones amps are battling their alternators.. but keep it civilized... don't wanna hear that you need to recharge your battery everyday.. so wat chew got?

don't really know what your asking? if your amps outweigh your alternators output power, then try upgrading the alt... upgrade the wiring under your hood, get a new battery, get a second battery.. what are you really asking?

130 amp alt
hawker 2150 batt
six 1/0 gauge positives
four 1/0 gauge frame grounds
six 1/0 gauge battery to amp grounds.
roughly 5,000 rms

voltage drops to 12.5 but not much past that. so i'd say my alternator isnt really doing anything, battery is feeding most of the draw.

i have a pc1500dt battery and a 140 amp alt. seems to be a never ending battle, mostly with my wallet.

180 amp alt, heavy duty 1000cca motorcraft battery(oem lincoln town car), 1450-1500 rms approx. with big 3, 0 awg.

140 amp alt.
I have 6 Pioneer GM-5100T's. 4 are bridged so 4 x 380 wrms = 1520, 2 are stereo, so 4 x 125 wrms = 500. That means 2020 wrms. I don't play it that loud. since i have gains turned down on the rear speakers, i couldn't max them out without melting the comps and the subs.

I haven't blown the 100 amp fuse on the main power wire, so i guess i'm good. I turned it up once to see if the lights will dim. On Idle, as loud as i can go, i can just barely tell the lights dim a bit. But that might be because the 3 F cap is doing it's job.

But then, If I turn on the headlights, running lights, defrost (turns on the a/c), rear defrost (w/mirror defrost), heated seats, wipers, try to use the power windows and adjust the power seat, suddenly the stereo isn't as loud? Do ya think maybe the voltage drops a bit?

lol my stereo is good too at about 14.4 volts until i turn on everything and suddently everything is real dim and the voltage just drops haha, i can watch the volt gauge bounce pretty good :cheeky4: lol

im running about 1000 watts rms off a stock 90 daytona, cheap battery and 4 gauge all round :appl:

was going to do the big 3 but since im selling my car after winter and getting something better i decided i wont because im lazy haha.

(GrizZz here, wife's PC)

140 amp CS144 alternator with a smaller pulley from a CS130D
Three Spiralcell batteries - daily
Two 8D CAT batteries and a single 2v locomotive cell (14.8v total, engine off) - competitions
Three full range amps running about 450w total
Two 1200d sub amps running at 2 ohm daily (1650w), 1 ohm competition (2400w)
About 75 feet of #2 welding cable
About 10 feet of #2/0 welding cable
One 1f cap

No dimming, unless I'm running at 1 ohm and trying to make myself go deaf. Crank it up for a commute and you can feel the drag from the alternator, but no dimming.
