traded my sub

i did this outa blue which is why im asking after but wanted ur opinions

traded my Phoenix Gold RSD 12" ina a1.8 ft3 box sealed

fantastic SQ sub for its price absoultly loved it, i highly recommend it

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-GdjvINR...520&I=218RSD12

that guy traded it for 2 of the older type r's (the 300 rms ones), 2 years old but the two of them have never seen over 300 watts

so we did a straight trade plus i gave him 20 bucks

like i absoultly loved my rsd but the two type r's will put out so much

they are in a slot ported box tuned to 28 hz at 3.1 ft3

im gonna make a better box but yea

what do u guys think?

2 subs are always better than one , regardless of brand . Not sure why u gave him extra money though

not sure either he just offered and i said ok, its only 20 bucks i guess

EDIT: oh and I originally got my phoenix at cost

well, you will get more output. I've never heard those PG subs, so i can't comment on the SQ. I have played with the older R's and they are a good sub. I like my '06 R's more though. Anyway, I don't think you'll be unhappy... if you set it up right.

well im not going for sq, more so just louder bass

my next vehicle will be sq which i may but two of those RSD's again

im definitly louder right now with the type r's

Then it was a good deal. enjoy!!!

i really hate to bring this thread back up but i was reading and found this

"the type R is not a "little better" than the type S -- the type S is an entry level sub -- the type R is a sub that (even tho its rated at 300 rms) will actually do best on something like 600 - 700 watts rms... and its LOUD AS HELL. but you need that 600 or so watts to it or else you're not really pushing it to its potential..."

any truth to that, or anyone on here have experience with the 300 RMS type-r 12"

thank you.

Maybe this was my amps fault, or the amp getting pushed harder than it could, but i ran a pair of 12" type r's off a concept cc-d800a (800rms@1ohm). For the most part it was completely fine, but there was one or two songs i had....strangely i think one may have been spice girls (lets not get into that), but if you played it at what i considered max volume for my system you would soon smell a strange burning smell heh.

Now i assume thats cause the subs are getting pushed harder than they really want. I'm not sure if thats from getting a bad signal...shouldn't be...put a lotta time into setting the gains...but i don't know a ton about car audio.

On that note, i have heard of folks putting 600w to each sub....wouldn't do it myself.

i know for a fact that the 500 watt type r can take 700 watts rms all day long, im running 1600 to 2 12" type r right now, they can take alot of power.

now i dont know about 600 to the old model, i would say 400-450 tops, 2X rated is too much, they arent that underrated.
