so what you should be doing is exactly what buzz said find a constant power wire and fuse it then put a switch in up at the front so you can manually turn your amp off when not using it... or if you want to get fancy you can hook it up to your ignition to turn the amp on every time you turn the car on.
connecting the remote to a cig lighter probably would work as long as u fused the wire and put a switch in... although using the cig lighter sounds ghetto to me...

you could also use a audio signal sensing remote trigger module from PAC.....PAC TR-4
as well as the cig lighter circuit is usually a switched output as well, so it won't be on if the car isn't running, or in the ACC position... thus not killing your battery when the car is off.
I'd still opt for finding a switched output from somewhere else though...
