as some of you many know i have my system hooked up sounds great but the treble is a little to high for my liking, adjusting it from my deck doesnt seem to do anything so im guessing i have to use that little built in filter on my amp....how do i cut out the highs and let everything underneath go through? im not gunna pretend like i have any clue, wiring it up was one thing its easy tho hook up wires. i dont get the 50hz-120hz mumbo jumbo yall talk about. any one in london wanna play around with my system and get it to reach its potential?

Are they component speakers or Coaxial?

If components, most all will come with a passive x-0ver that will able you to adjust the tweeter. Sometimes it will be 3DB or maybe more depending on the speakers. Location can make the tweeter to bright. For Eg in the Pillars they are much closer to your ear and sound a little harsher.


Its good you asked this question because when I sold retail I would say over 90% of systems installed by the customer were just not tuned and level matched properly. Thus the customer would not get the full quality of the equiptment.

And of course they all came back and said "this product sucks"

they are components , i was looking at the xovers for some sort of a dial but theres none to be found unless theres another way to adjust them. the tweets are located in the dash and dont fire directly to the listener, they reflect off the windsheild (i know not the best position, but i had to make some compromises) i have the 560i satnet crossovers from CDT.

It's not usually a dial on the crossover it's a seperate speaker connection. One will say "tweeter" and the other will say "tweeter -3dB" or "0" and "-3dB" or similar.

Firing them off the windshield isn't always bad but it is possible it is making them a bit more harsh. Try them at different angles if possible.

There's no tweet attenuation on the 560satnet.

Your gonna have to work the deck and amp controls to knock it down. Your deck treble doesn't make any diff??

If you are having alot of trouble toning down the treble on the CDT I would seriously look at a different place to mount the tweeters. The CDT Tweets are very layed back sounding in just about every install I have done/heard.

As others have said, play with your deck settings but there is a very good chance its due to the tweeter placement.

fever you got almost the same setup as me, you think the tweets are layed back? i have the 1" tweets if that makes a difference.... yea i was with my buddy in the car and i was turning down the treble on the deck while listening to a song and there was no change, we both looked at eachother and said "nothing happend"

I've heard that the reflection off (glass) windshields has a bit to do with a harsher tweeter sound. I moved mine to the a pillars and have noticed better imaging on top of my 'preferred sound'. However, it really depends on your preferences, equipment and vehicle layout. That's the fun in car audio...Cheers....

It's the Sony deck in conjunction with an aggressive top end of the speakers.
Keeping in mind that each brand has it's own tonal signature, sometimes a proper mix MAY NOT always be from good reviews of each alone.
This is where "matching" comes in, in conjuction to install.
Inter-connecting cables also come into play, so if the wires to the tweets are changed it will also affect their resulting output.
