Hey, my bro has a Clarion DXZ-535 deck, a Punch 40 running some mids in the doors, and some 3.5's in the dash, and an MTX 251D mono sub amp running a single 8" sub in his 1986 Toyota pickup. He is getting a bad thumping from the subs occasionally. I talked to DUKK about this, we tried swapping RCA's, and also ran them over the seat, it was okay for a few days, and then came back again. I think maybe he should swap the ground, both amps are grounded together at the same spot and the Punch 40 is fine, but maybe we should try a 4 awg run back to the battery? Thanks for any help, this is frustrating.....

No not yet, Paul. Pull the fuse at the distro block so the 40 is not running at all, then?

i had a similar problem in my old truck, did you try a completely different set of rca's? also is the amp new or older. it could be the actual input jacks on the amp. i have an old crossover that had one of the input jacks come loose from the board. sa little solder job fixed it right up.

The sub amp is three weeks old, my brother already exchanged the first one once. We are on the third set of RCA's now, they are not fancy, but they should not be causing the problem. He is outside now, he is going to try a different ground point for the MTX and see if that helps....

I think it is only when the truck is running, he has an electronically controlled auto transmission, and the RCA's were running through the middle of the truck at first, but then he re ran a set along the sill.
