"tsunami 2 farad cap only comming on when engine is running"

Hey guys,

I just installed a tsunami 2 farad cap and i need to know what's wrong. I ran 4 gauge power from the battery to it. I then ran 4 gauge power cable from it to my amp. When my car is running it is showing 14.4-14.6 volts on the cap. When you shut the car off the cap goes into sleep mode after a few minuits which is normal to prevent the battery going dead. If i turn my ignition to the accessories position to listen to the stereo, the cap wont light up even though i have music. If i have the ignition on the accessories position and have a battery charger hooked up the cap still wont come on even though once again the music is playing. As mentioned the only time the cap works is when my car is running.Everything is hooked up properly. Is this normal? Do i need to take the cap back and exchange it? There is a voltage adjustment screw on the top of the cap which i have not touched. Can anyone out there help?
Thanks:dunno:

it's perfectly nornal. The capacistor tuns on/off in response to a voltage chane. Also the cap is ALWAYS ON!!!capacitors never off.. the Voltage display for the cap does. so it's always working.

Be thankful you got one with a display that isn't overly sensitive

The problem here is no Earthquake to go along with the Tsunami.....

as far as i know the voltage display only turns on when there is s big change in voltage like when you start the car. going from say 12.6 to 14.4

I had a volt meter hooked up to the cap when the key was on the accessory position. This is when LCD on the cap should light up and it measured 12.5 Volts and was told that even though the LCD display is not on the cap is working. So I guess my cap is working even though the display is not lit up?

Correct, the cap is always storing power. The display has sensors to detect the change in voltage and turns on the display.

Thanks for the input guys. Much appreciated.:)

---p.s.----I recently contacted tsunami and explained my problem and they told me that the led display should turn on in the accessory position, and offered to replace it. They told me, as you guys did, that the cap is still working though. As long as it works, i don't care if the display is acting up
Thanks:)
