Anyone see the new CA&E article about the 4 high end amps tested? The TRU Technology tube amp won. I'm not saying that it is the best, it just best out the other 4 amps, one being the zapco c2k. it was just an amp class test, so i guess tube amps are better than other classes. Any opinions? I have a class a/b tru technology 4.100 with burr-brown upgrade and i want to go to the copper series, prolly the tube-hybrid amp. Its a lot of money, but i spent a lot of time in my car and i really enjoy my music, it makes the time go by quicker.

Yes that amp is the best when running a terrible sounding set of $10,000 8 ohm home speakers. To take a review like that as gospel is asking for trouble.

I don't let anyone tell me what sounds best..except a couple of pals on the side of my head, I consider them the true experts.

i DO agree that tube amps sound very good... the sound produced is so very warm.

In the review they said they couldn't hear any 'warmth' over the other designs. The speakers they used had over 100 dB sensitivity and only utilized about a watt of power from the amps. In that situation I could see how a 13 watt by 2 amp (or whatever it was rated at) could win. In the real world I sure would expect different results.
