Woohoo!

So I bought meself another 1200d amplifier, and installed it last night/today.

The lad, although looking thoroughly bored in this picture, gave me a hand last night. "Woah far out Dad, it's chrome!"

Had to move my Clarion (rear 6x9's) amp from here:

To here:

All done & ready to have seat reinstalled:

And WOW did it ever improve SQ!!! I hooked them up one to each coil, so 2 ohms each. Had both hooked up to one amp before, at 1 ohm.

A little bit louder, but much fuller sound now. And I can bridge to 1 ohm for competition next season

At least the kids didn't get bored to death:

Ya, I know it's quite the Medusa isn't it. I'm hoping to either replace the van with a van that has an interior PDQ...

But it probably won't happen for another year, so yes, I'll be tidying thigns up in the near future, when I get motivated enough to stick soem wood paneling into her. The paneling will probably make the van quieter though, but I REALLY want an interior...

Actually it's an SQL install. I started out with a low end sub, and built from there, a piece at a time as I could afford it.

The high end sub and my first 1200d were the last things I did.

So it's SQ is just that, SQ. Doesn't mean it's pretty. Close your eyes and she sounds awesome now. That's why I have'nt bothered running her through IASCA SQ, as I saw on the sheet they're concerned with prettiness (which really makes no sense, they should call it SQP or something), so I never bothered. I wasn't concerned with prettiness at all, as it's a work van that does on average four hours a day. Hardware had to be out of the way (under seats) so the van could still haul ~1500 pounds of batteries, starters, alternators, scrap steel, pocket bikes, quads, go-karts, etc. etc. I now can only carry 1200 pounds of cargo as my stereo equipment weighs over 300 pounds, I'm 280, and the van's rated for 1750 payload. Stealth is also a big issue for me, I've had to much **** stolen from me when I was younger to be showing it off. When she's parked, all you can see through the side glass is that Clarion amp on the wall now. The seat blocks the view of everything else, and I painted my rear windows so you can't see in (or out) of them at all.

So, when I DO panel this van, or replace (she does have 400,000 hard workin' city km's already) her, I'll pretty it up, but it'll still be under seats, or maybe I'll make some covers for wherever they can be seen.
