Two amps, unsure what 6.5" components to get (wattage etc...)
 

Was thinking, as much as I'd like high end component speaker set, choice might depend on specs of the amp that is going to run them correct?

Here's my current plan:

Currently three 10" subs in box, powered bridged (approx. 400W) with a PPI Promos 425. As amp is 4 channel, I can use the extra 2 channel to power other speakers (was thinking eventually some mid-bass subs near rear).

Other half of the plan was to use my Phoenix Gold Sapphire 3.0 to cover power to front component speakers, which this makes sense as a good option. The watt rating of component speakers should roughly match what the amp is putting out to them though right?

Sorry for all the questions. My first system, 20 or so years ago, I didn't do the install. At time said I have "this much $", build a kick butt system please. :)

Got my head stuck on Morel (but for most part out of budget), or Polk, but don't know quality of today's Polk speakers. Budget for components set to a very strict $250.00 There's actually a Morel set I could possibly pick up for $289.00, but may be no point if the amp is underpowered for their rating I guess?

wattage rating of speakers is extremely unimportant. It's just a thermal dissipation rating, it has no effect on sound. For shopping for speakers, your best bet is always to get up, go out and listen to what's available. then make your decision based on that. Any power above about 75Wrms is just headroom anyways unless you really like cranking it so your sapphire makes neough power to run pretty much anything you deside to go with.

Much appreciated! I didn't want to either over power or under power the speakers, so was not 100% sure when it came to what the speakers are rated.

I recommend MB Quart speakers. I've owned Reference Series 6.5" for close to 7 years now. Never have had an issue. My wife had 6.5" Premium Series installed late last year. These were purchased from MR2NR.

They might not be as good as Morels, but for the money, you can't go wrong.

I just found a really good deal on Morel Tempo comps, that I couldn't pass up. I think I should be set now, until I scrape up funds for some rear mids. :smokin:

where did u pick up the tempo's?? local? and what price cause im lookin at possibily pickin the same comps up if the price is right

If you have enough crossover ability you could always use the fronts on the Promos to run your tweeters and the Sapphire to run the mids......no wasted channels idling away with nothing to do.....:smilie_da
