Type R
I have 2 MRP-M1000's and am going to run one type r off of each at 4ohms is this a good idea?
This form seems like its full of wonderful information and people. Thanks in advance Devon |
sure...that's 600 watts at 4ohms at 14.4 volts...which will give you about 500 watts at real world voltage in a car. Type R's are rated for 500 watts rms, so should work perfectly!

Thanks :)

You will probably get the exact same output with 1 of those amps to the sub with the coils paralleled to 2 ohms. Especially when you factor in voltage loss powering both amps compared to powering 1.
Now... if you got yourself a dual 2 ohm Type R, that would be a different story, but 2k to 1 500w sub continuously will not be so really good in the long run. I would get a 2nd dual 4 Type R and run 1 amp per, it should be up to 6db louder if everything is done correctly. And it should handle it fine. |
After reading what you said i am going to run 2 alpine type r's at 4ohms each. Each sub will have its own amp so that about 600watts rms to each sub. Will it sound sexy?

not sure how "sexy" sub 100hz frequencies are??? Assuming the rest of your system is up to par, it will be loud and clear. I have 2-type R's powered with a 1200 watt amp @ 1ohm, and it sounds great...very clean, tight, and loud. Potentially your's could sound better, since it's running at 4ohms with the same power. Many audiophiles believe lower impedance is detrimental to SQ, although I didn't hear a difference when I did a side by side comparison in my car. Anyway, make sure you get the right box for your application, and don't forget the rest of the system...or it'll sound like poo!

i think you should not buy such trendy stuff and buy something thats more functional than fashionable. but then thats just me.
