Underhung VC

I understand how a traditional speaker works but I can not picutre how a flat piston sub with an underhung VC work, does it still have a former?

indeed...and apparently these designs are used in SQ applications from what I have heard

If the top prlate is thicker the the former is tall How is the former attached to the spider and the cone? I have never actualy scene one of these subs in person

the coil doesnt come right up to the cone on the former.

What is the advantage of using an underhung VC?

Anyone know how many turns are on a typical VC for a tweeter,mid, and a sub? obviously it varies but a rough idea.
