Underpowering sub by 450rms...

I was wondering if underpowering by 400rms is too much.

I currently have a fosgate mono amp putting 200rms and i want to purchase a AUDIOBAHN AW1000N 10" 1200W DVC. It will be runnign at 2ohms. If i underpower this much would it sound worst than if I purchased a sub that had a much lower RMS?

I read about VC heating up due to gains being set too high. I will adjust my gains accordingly, my main concern is if the sub would sound better if i bought a lower RMS sub.

My reason for buying a high RMS sub is because i want room for upgrade and it was the same price as the lower RMS(400rms) sub as well.

Thanks

Any 2ohm sub load will work with your amp....the key for now is getting a fairly efficient driver or drivers to make the most of the power you have....:smokin:

There's a reason that "1200w" sub is the same price.....I would suggest you get a better quality driver to start out with. If you are planning on upgrading down the road and you have a decent 200w mono amp, you will probably have better luck selling it with a matching sub. Then you can use the money to get a more robust sub and amp, once again matching them up power and quality-wise......:smilie_da
