underrated amps?
 

hey guys, i`m looking to buy a pioneer premier prs x320. all of the "official" sites say its good for 200 rms @ 4ohms.
but a lot of the reviews and benchmark sheets ive seen have been saying its up around the 400 rms range. how is this possible?wouldnt premier say its 400 rms for better selling?thanks.

From what I understand, quite a few of the amp manufacturers (RF, MTX, etc) underrated their amps in the 90's, so that competitors could run in lower power classes but still make more power than their ratings. Case in point, my RF Punch 40 was rated at 40x2 at 2 ohms, but did 90x2 on the birthsheet......

I had the same amp at one time... they are 2ohm stable when bridged and will easilly deliver in excess of 400 watts....


If you look on the back it says 1ohm stable (per channel)
