Actually I've used 'welding' cable on a few installs when being a student and a tight budget. Never once had ANY problems except with flexability, never cut out or had drop in voltage because of it. Now I have only had up to 2500 watt stereos but hey thats my two cents. Now it does look like , and I don't put it anywhere close to the speaker wires or rca's :P but as far as I know they are supposed to be run on opposite sides of the vehicle anyways.

Why is King_Kong getting shat on for this?

He's asking a car audio forum if he's getting a fair price. I don't see the issue. As far as I can tell, he didn't imply he was getting ripped off. He was just curious as to whether or not there are other alternatives that were equal in terms of quality, but not as hard on the wallet. Nothing wrong with doing some research to find out what your options are. That's the whole point of this forum isn't it? For research and information? Or is it just for shop owners to peddle their work to newbies for a juicy profit. And for geniuses to crap down your throat when you're a little misinformed.

Maybe Urban Disturbance's workmanship and products are worth the money. But I wouldn't let the shop tell me that. I'd try to find other people who can back up the claim. If the guy at the shop is offended by that, then he should prove he's 'the ' with how he deals with the customer.

I think KingKong asked in his opening post whether or not someone knows the guy, so that he may cut him a deal or something.

KK, why don't you leave the box unfinished, then go to Walmart's fabric section and pick out some decent threads to wrap it in. Buy a roll of double-sided tape while you're there. Do a mock run with the tape, then do the finished job with spray-glue. You could probably do it for $15-$25, instead of having them do it for $80.

* One more thing. If I were Dave, I wouldn't want one of my buddies talking to one of my customers like that. King_Kong, I'd go else where. Find the BEST installer in ANOTHER AREA and let him earn your money.

I have to agree with tragic, whats the point of a forum if you can't ask legit questions. Not to mention I heard only praises about the work of the shop he was asking about from the other people. That should have been enough said. People are so quick to take things the wrong way.

(now on the other hand we only know what was asked here

Im not a talker , i didn't go into his shop and start F***** around with him. I just asked him a simple question. First time i came about 3 weeks back he told me 300$ for the box but later he said 400$ ( Carpeted ). I was really mad trying to find people in Kitchener/Waterloo region for car audio purposes so I didn't care how much it was. I Know the box he made is very nice and it gets pretty loud. But if ur going to make customers why not make them your customers in a way that the next time there's a problem or something i need done, i may be able to come back to him without thinking a million times he's gonna rip me off. And i never said he ripped me off i just wanted to see how much would it actually cost. I still have the wiring thing but im going to go to his shop today just to see what he says. If not I'll figure something else out.
