Arrow Using an AMP for multi-purpose?

Hey guys, just a quick question, I have a "Alpine 1-Channel Amplifier (MRP-M500)" Mono-block Amp that I have not yet installed in my car audio system. I would lik to know if this amp can be used to power my internals (two 5.25's & two 6.5's) along with my 12' Sub...

I was under the impression that a 1 channel amp can only power one thing at a time (sub or internals)... Is this correct?

-Thanks

it cannot be used for the speakers as well.

sub channel only.

there are "multi-purpose" amps. that just isn't one of them.

alpines PDX-5 would fit the bill for what you are looking for.

Or any other 5 channel amp or if you already have the amp you listed, any 4 channel amp.

Yep...the amp you have is a subwoofer only amp, that has a limited frequency response of 20hz to 200hz, that means it won't even play frequencies above 200hz. It's a mono, or single channel amp, so no stereo signals. Definitely not for anything other than low frequency sounds.

The one that is right for the application. Without knowing what that is, there is no way to recommend something. Start your own thread and post what it is you want to do, in what vehicle, what the expectations are etc.

Excellent help. I understand now.

One final thing on this topic. I'm getting a set of Alpine type S 5.25 speakers in the front and Alpine typs S 6.5 speakers in the rollbar of my Jeep TJ wrangler. I'm also getting an Alpine cda-9885 stock deck.

SO:
5.25's @ 55W RMS
6.5's @ 80W RMS

Alpine deck @ 18W x 4 RMS
Alpine 4 channel amp @ 40W x4 RMS (4ohms)/ 50W X 4 RMS (2ohms)

My question is, is it worth getting the alpine 4 channel amp for the extra 22 or so Watts of power? Will there really be that much difference in sound quality, loudness, clarity... I'm getting the amp used for about 60 bucks...

Thanks guys!
