using external fuses on mono amps
Hi guys
I was wondering, if youre usuing a huge mono amp and it calls for external fuses, is there any formula to figure out the correct total size in fuses to use with regards to the power ratings of the amp? I dont have the manual or spec sheet. I have an external block which can hold like 4 of the small round glass type fuses like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/AGU-60-AMP-Lot-o...cmdZViewIte m rather than the blade fuses. Thanks |
calculate the amout of amps of the fuses on the amp and thats how much you need as of amp external fuse

no, what im saying is, this mono amp comes with NO built-in fuses. you gotta use external fusing. it has 2 - 0/1 guage positive inputs and 2 - 0/1 guage negative inputs on the amp itself. |
ohh in that case i dont know lol never seen one like that before

What is the make and model of the amp? Its RMS wattage capability?
the amp is rated at: 1250RMS x 1 @ 4ohms 2250RMS x 1 @ 2ohms 3450RMS x 1 @ 1 ohm all at 13.8V |
3450w/13.8 = 250
So I'd go with a 300a fuse, just to be safe ;) |

Get yourself an ANL fuse and holder... like this one from Knukonceptz....
KnuKonceptz - view products for category ANL FUSE If your system takes dual 1 inputs then run 2 runs of 1/0 from the front to back ;) (so 4 total) Otherwise you're really only doing 1 run to an amp that takes 2 for input.... right? ;) |
