Logos and price tags can do wonders for sound quality ;)

Just as an aside, last year when I went to the local IASCA and USAC competitions here I got very favorable comments about my high end, tonality wise. My imaging and staging needs some work but I always got "nice highs" on my scoresheets. And this is from 4 different judges who I don't think know each other. My tweets? A $30 pair of Tangband Dynaudio D25 knock-offs :) Must be something about that nice big 4" metal flange and 1" dome visible through the speaker grilles.

Oh yeah, I also use self-made RCA cables with 20 ga. alarm wire twisted tightly together, and 16 ga. alarm wire twisted together for speaker cable with (gasp!) crimped bullet connectors!! :smokin:

Ditto to your true enough......the other sets on the board in the same size enclosures were all Focal, I still thought the BEs sounded better to me. It would be interesting to try the blind taste test, I'll ask the next time I go in there.

Nice work on the tweets BTW....just goes to show how quality installation does make a difference.....:smilie_da You did put them in right, didn't you?...:cheeky4:

And the debate rolls on......:smokin:

I also found they lack a little "realizm" but this is the first year for them, maybe they'll change them a little next year.

I really, really like them.

As for the price of the BE set.... They are hand built....berillium is toxic material in it's raw form, it takes a lot of labour to get them to be non-toxic and in the shape required to be a tweeter. So you have to pay for all those workers somehow, and surely berillium isn't cheap.

its good to know people could get sick making high end speakers. l guess the cost goes to health care.
l know berillium is a very hard substance, less fatigue for tweeters.
a wise consumer knows its all about placement, which is dirt cheap.

yea well, an experienced installer also knows that install only goes so far.
Eventually once the install is perfect, the equipment gives you the edge over the competition.

The BE's aren't for your rotted out Civic hatchback with Bazooka tube subs and Pioneer amps off a cheap flea market deck, they were designed with the serious audiophile/competitor in mind where the install is good and the rest of the system is up to par to run the Be's.

i found the be's to not be as dynamic and transparent as i had found with the scanspeak/alpine ar the tlr, i felt more like i was listening to the tweeter and not the music, it just didnt sound as true as other tweeters ive heard, its still a fantastic tweeter, keep in mind were slpitting hairs over a few world class tweeters
