Vintage Radio Repair

I am looking for someone to repair an original Wonderbar radio & speaker assembly out of a 1956 Corvette.

I understand that the popular thing to do is to replace it with a modern radio, but I would like to stick with the original as I am trying to maintain originality to the car.

At one time I had the name of someone in the Toronto area that specialised in the repairs of vintage radios, unfortunately I misplaced his name and looking at recommendations as who could do this kind of work.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Pierre

S&S electronics is a vendor on here. I know they repair amps etc. I would ask them, if they can't they may know someone who can.

There is a local store in Burlington Called Keith's Stereo that does repairs as well, I would give them a call to esquire, I think they are more into home audio repair though.

I had a customer's original 8 track stereo out of a '74 Jensen Interceptor restored here in Calgary just a few years ago. The deck restoration was relatively easy, but 8 track tape restoration is tedious. Even if one lucks out and gets old stock but still brand new wrapped in plastic 8 tracks, they will still need restoration. The foam thingy behind the tape that the unit's head pushes the tape against deteriorates over time, being used or not. I believe we had them rebuild several tapes too.

The Stereo Doctors at ARA Auto Accessories, Rod & Russ. They love restoring old stereos, and would definitely be up for the 50's era job. But again, that's here in Calgary, so would require shipping the unit.
