Getting a viper 2500.1 sent up in the next couple days. A quick question: I am getting a different vehicle (lol a 94 caravan) and I'm wondering if I will be able to run it if I do just the big 3 (not sure alt size yet). I probably wont run it even close to full tilt, going to a pair of sx15's, untill I get a ho alt/new batt(s) when school gets out in april/may. Should I be ok until I get my ho alt if I keep my gains way down? And if I were to run it harder, what kind of problems might I run into?

here is a question for you: if someone says that u cant run it for some reason would u actually not run it? or would u run it anyways?

and to answer your other question u will probably get dimming head lights at half the volume, if your voltage drops too low the amp might go........but it does have protection in it which should kick in as soon as the voltage stops dropping too low.

I actually wouldn't run the amp full tilt, especially with a stock alt on 2500rms (theoretically). Just wondering if the amp had protection because I've heard that or Orion 2500's and viper 2500's are very similar, and have heard of orions going up in smoke if the voltage dips too low.

^ naa thats BS..

If the van has a V6 chances are the alt puts out around 100 amps at mid RPM...

At full tilt on the highway Id expect some moderate dimming and voltage droping near 12.5v... in town its going to be worse and you may drop down to 11.5 but I doubt much more then that...

Worst case scenario is that the amp drops the system down to 10v and shuts off...

The key thing you are going to need is a good battery, and I wouldn't go with less then 1/0 cable..

Using a 2nd battery near the amplifier will reduce peak current draw from the main batt and level out the system.. that should help with headlight dimming...

Awesome. Ya, I think the van probably has around that size of an alt. My biggest fear is having that amp blow up with a huge voltage drop, but like you said the protection mechanism should kick in. Still wont be wanging it full out until I redo my electrical system, but just wanted to get my 2 15's bumpin a bit.

There's doubled up 4ga connections on them... Use them both. They like their current, but still make pretty solid power.... and I do like the cosmetics.

If you ever want another one..... I know where there is a brand new, in box never seen 12V.
