Visonik Audio, Is It Any Good? Also, Advice Needed

Hey guys. Just got my car, 98 Z24, and I'm looking to upgrade the audio. Nothing too major, I was thinking 2 10' or 12' subs, with a mono block amp, and swap out the door and a rear dash speakers with 6x9's, and maybe a 4 Channel amp for them.
Anyway, I found a deal on some Visonik Gear on Ebay. It's 2 brand new 12' Subs, rated at 450 Watts each, Sub Enclosure, MOSFET Amplifier, and an amp wiring kit (Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/VISONIK-SYSTEM-2-12-CAR-SUBWOOFERS-AMPLIFIER-SUB-BOX_W0QQitemZ270144428437QQihZ017QQcategoryZ32822Q QtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem ) Is this good gear, or crap I should stay away from?
Also, anyone have any suggestions for audio I could get my car? Budget is about 500-600, but if I can save any money that would be great! Also, I'm running a Sony CDX GT-500 HU. Anyways, thanks a lot,

Hodder

I would never buy anything off of ebay unless its cheap real cheap

Well, at 164 Buy It Now Price, I'm thinking it's a steal....but like I said, not sure about the quality, my guess is it may be crap. Also, the Amp is 350 Watts. I'm not sure, but wouldn't you need an amp rated at the same or more wattage as the subs? Again, any suggestions on what to get would be aweosme, keeping the budget in mind.

For the most part Visonik is fine. It is not the worst thats for sure however that package is $164 us plus $54 shipping. By the time its landed and all your duties, brokerage and exchange you will be around $300. Thats not bad but if you have warranty issues you have to send the part back. Just hit up some of the vendors here as we all usually have deals going on that we could easily ship out to you and better equipment.

If your budget is $500-600 I would work on it bit by bit.

^^^ Steve was trying to be nice. I am not so nice. Visonik = crap in a box. If you do not want smelly merde, don't buy it. I would rather call it what it is and save you the headaches that would come with it. Buy your equipment a piece at a time if you must. Do it right the first time.

LOL well it is better then Pyramid. :)

Toddyboy 07-12-2007 06:33 PM

i agree with smartass way better than pyramid but its not to bad a deal but i would wanna upgrade that amp soon and use it to power your fronts and get a heavier amp. And by the looks of it the wire is maybe 10 ga so you'd have to shell out anothe say 100bux for a decent wiring kit check with the site vendors to see what they can offer that setup will give you bass may even be half ass loud its up to you

They actually describe the subs as 'chromed out'...

Gangsta yo!

Ok, throwing out the Visonik idea. So I'm turning to advice, this goes to any vendors that reads this :P see if someone can help me out. First off budget is about 400-600, perhaps more if i can sell a few things. Any money I can save is great haha. This is what I'm looking for, or what I think would be a good setup. 2 10' subs With a good balence SQ and SPL wise) on a monoblock amp, with replacement 6x9's (leaning more towards SQ) in the doors and rear dash wired to an 4 channel amp. Nothing too huge, like I said just something with some nice quality, and for the subs, something that will give a bit of notcable thump :P Plese point out anything you see wrong with this, my knowlage is really limited on audio. I'm shooting for something with pretty good sound quality, well, at least a bit better than stock, and that won't fry up or fall apart in a few weeks or months, but at a price that can fit in my budget. My HU is a Sony CDX GT-500. Any help with this would be awesome. Thanks again guys,

Hodder

Well Clarion has some awesome solutions from entry level to higher end gear. And what is good about there site www.clarioncanada.com is they list all the MSRP prices which are not to out of whack. So you can put together a system on paper and roughly know how much it will cost, then hit the dealer up to see what type of discount or deal on a system you can get. There gear is well built and seems to fit into your category needs. I have shipped quite a few Clarion products out there to your area. Keep in mind a few things:

1> You will spend about $75-100 for your wiring and hook-up accessories.
2> If you are handy and have a few tools you and a couple of buddies can build your box with some, MDF, Glue, Screws and Beer. :) This will save you a bunch of coin. Keep in mind if you dont have access to a saw Home Depot does 14 free cuts when you buy a piece of MDF. ;) Or worst case and for your system a prefab box will be fine.

BTW what vehicle is this for and do you know the proper speaker sizes for the vehicle. If it is a ford may be 6x8 or 5x7 thats why I ask.

And a nice little system by Clarion for what you are looking for might be:

2 x SW1051 Subs
2 x SRR6916 6x9 (If thats what they are, if not they have the 16series in all sizes)
1 x APX1300 sub amp
1 x APX4240 4 channel

This setup would be a nice blend power wise and quite balanced.

So check them out at www.clarioncanada.com
