Visonik sub amp: crap? or complete crap??
#41
worst cast scenario is that you are going to continue to cook amps, making this a very costly lesson.
btw, on the power you've tested with, I doubt highly that you'd even notice a difference between the type x and a type r, other than a good type r WILL be louder. not to mention will need a much smaller enclosure than the type x, giving you more room in the trunk.
hook up your m1000, and stop by a shop. ask to hear a type r in your car. most places that sell alpine, will already have a pre-loaded box kicking around,(probably on demo already), and it would take no effort to hear it in your car.
as far as the pg, it's worth getting looked at. like I said earlier, there are still audiophiles that would pay good money for a working 1200.1. at least get an estimate on the repair, could be a minor in-expensive fix. selling that will put you well on the way to a new type r. also big box stores carry a decent warranty(though it might cost a couple $$$ more) for an over-the-counter, no hassle, exchange/return. if there ever was a problem with a new sub, it could get taken care of, no questions asked.
