Volfenhag Subs and components
 

I am just getting started in anything audio, I have spent all of my previous experience in building domestic cars / trucks and engines and have never done an audio install. I recently purchased my first import a 2006 Yaris and will be putting in a system in short order; I have one question however.

Has anyone used or know anyone that has used Volfenhag products?
I cant find them at any distributor here in canada and can only import them through the US. Are these components any good? The 12" subs are rated 600w rms and the amp is 2000w. I would like to use these only for the fact that no one out there has them. I have a car sponsorship and will be attending shows come spring and would like to have something installed that looks awsome (these subs are bright red, cone included) and no one can buy locally.

Any input would be great I would like to buy these next week.

sounds like u have the prime opportunity to prove weather they are good or not. that is the best part of having industry knowledge it wont take long to get a feel for a product if you have done a lot with other gear in the past.

all the power to u though. that is one of my favorite things is taking something that has no name for it's self and doing well with it!

You dont see to many people with them because they choose not to use them. Please do not throw your hard earned money away on this junk, Buy something half decent, Now if your just for show and dont really expect too much from the gear than thats totally up to you if you wanna get it, however volfenhag is just another flea market brand all looks and no go...

I saw a guy with 2 15s and like 800wrms from a big 4ch lanzar amp.... he hit like 137db.. lol :worshippy

I'd rate it a notch above Pyramid and a notch below Audiobahn.. All show and no go.. I've personally heard some of their gear, and if SQ isn't important to you, you might actually like it.. They do get loud, but SQ they are not.. My opinion? Invest a few more bucks and stick with some better known brands.. I would say listen to them first to decide for yourself, but it doesn't sound like that will be an option for you.. Again, it's your money, but I think you are going to hear a lot of the same opinions.. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Id say its on par with pyramid/legacy seeing as how its all the same with different badging...

I asked this question a couple years1 ago, and got about the same answer. the general consensus is that volfenhaug is pretty much crap if you're expecting it to do what it says it will do.

on the other hand, I've had pyramid amps that do a great job... as long as you dont' expect anywhere close to the nameplate power output.

honestly, if you like it, go for it, try it out and if it doesn't work, you havn't lost much, just swap in some better gear.

It seems the consensus is about 60-40 - can anyone tell me if they have actually used this stuff or just figure its crap because no one has?
Its a german brand thats only 3 or 4 years old - like someone said, Im willing to give them the benefit of the doubt before making the decision to toss them. I dont have a huge budget for an install, hence not using JL or others. In terms of my use I have never used subs, my 70 chev pickup doesnt even have a radio just enough noise from the exhaust to make you deaf. I do all my own work so Im putting together a custom enclosure and amp rack. Im stuck with stuff I dont know (subs, amps etc) because of my warranty. Come next month I going to see if toyota wont work with me on my sponsorship since shows start early spring.
I could get a business here to put something together but their quote was like 2500 - 5000 after I buy the audio parts.
I dont particularily like driving around with the subs cranked so their use would be limited. All of the other components will soon be replaced with Infinity mids, tweeters, crossovers etc. I would still like to have nice sounding audio on my daily drives.

If there are any fairly cheap alternatives to Volfenhag which still look as good and are still rare at shows please let me know. Im fighting a losing battle because this car doesnt have aftermarket parts outside of the UK - its not available in the US until April so I have to build everything.

Its not a german company.. lol... its all made in china and Ill tell ya its the same crap as pyramid and legacy..... and actually sister to I believe 'performance technique'... lol.. Iam not saying its bad for the price.... but reliability is suspect... and IMO if you really gave one 600 watts it would be smoked within an hour...

Install is key and you can make a relativley killer system with low end gear if you know what you are doing.... still volfenhag wouldn't be my first choice... This might be a bit better..

pyle also has some decent stuff thats still low end but OK... Id consider installing these subs in a customer's car, but probably not my own...

And for god sakes stay away from audiopipe cause thats where I see this going next... :p

looks like they got some woofers from whoever makes that 'GS red line' stuff or whatever its called... lol.. looks like some of the same baskets and cones visonik has used also..
