water inside doors
 

Hey all, I got a professional to install my sound system in my car, now i noticed the guy doing the doors was new to this job whatever. Now when it rains out I can hear water drop inside my doors, obviously this is not normal on a 2006 car and its only in one door. Now I had a problem with the speakers so I went to another shop and they had to open the doors again so if the door was installed wrong the 1st time it should have been fixed when the second installation was done... But it still does it! Now, I know there is a transparent plastic inside the door. I also know they made a whole inside the plastic to fit the speaker (which is deeper than stock I guess). Would that be the problem or is it a door seal or is that transparent plastic sheet the door seal? Do you think its the car that has a defect or could it be due to the install??

Not sure what your concern is. Doors are not water tight. Rain water will run down the outside of the window and into the door. That is why there are drainage holes on the bottom of the door. More important however is that the speakers are somewhat protected from dripping water by a plastic flap or other form of protection. Most installers dont bother with that. On the other hand... good car speakers are made to suffer thru the environmental hazards of being inside doors.

^^^^^ This is indeed correct, water on the inside of doors is indeed normal.

If the car has been rust-proofed, the drain holes in the bottom of the door may be plugged.....easy enough to fix if you look along the bottom of the door there should be a few small holes there....if they are plugged, a small screwdriver will clear them out.
