So I was cruising downtown and I had my music on and all of a sudden my deck shuts off and then it comes back on and i hear a few weird noises coming from my trunk. Now I have my sub amp hooked up to a seperate 12V switch so I can turn it on and off. I had the switch turned off and the amp was still on. Now the whole care is off sitting in my driveway and the amp is still on, any idea what happened? The amp is a USA-2000x. I am really just worried about the amp draining my battery and the fact I cant shut the sub section off if I happen to see any cops.

I can't help you with your electrical problem but I can offer some advice with your strategy for avoiding the police. Most decks have an attenuator button on them. When you push it, it immediately lowers the volume significantly. I know that when I'm bumping around the neighbourhood, I always keep my finger on the attenuator button on my remote. That way, if I see a cop or come to a traffic light or something, I just push the button and everyone's happy.

Usually I put the volume up when I pass by police...anyways...What type of switch is it that you have, ie is it a relay attached to a switch or just a switch to the 12v turn on etc etc...Check the switch to make sure no wires are touching so that the current flows regardless of the switch position.

The switch isnt connected to the amp anymore in the remote wire location and the amp is still on. MY deck has a mute and pause button but the switch is closer and easier to use. I am guessing the relay inside the amp for the remote wire connection is stuck or something?

so the remote wire is off but the amp stays on? funny. take a multimeter to the remote wire and see if it has current in it. i know 2000x has a messy wiring design it is possible that the peice of the remote wire that is after the swtich could somehow cross/jam/tightnd or whatever else to one of the power wires.

I was thinking maybe the power wire somehow is touching the remote location but the closest power connection is like 3 spaces away from the remote. IS it possible for a relay to get stuck in the "on" position cause im thinking thats what it is.

How hard do you think it would be to replace the relay on the amp if thats the problem. Do amps turn on relay work the same as most other relays or are they unique to each company?

Anyone got a picture of what the relay on an amps circuit board usually looks like?
