Hey sorry about the off topic question... But i've Been wanting a fluxed core/ mig welder for a long time now... so was interested if any knew of a good one that can weld up to 1/4 thick..
I was looking at getting a Lincoln Electric weld-pack 100 welder but i'm having a hard time finding a store around the windsor/chatham area.. if anyone could help it would be great
Thanks
Kyle.

flux core for 1/4 ... i dunnno ... for the most part they are usually the 110volt deals that have a very low duty cycle. i dont know if you`ll be able to get a good penitration.

i guess you could do 1/4 just with multipul passes you`d have to "V" the metals though.

strength would be an issue

what are you looking to get welded ??

i am not a fan of the flux core any ways, use gas mig and see the difference.

just use a big amp.. I've never tried it but I've heard some amps put out enough current that you could actually weld with them.. lol

well i have sum kind of Canadian Tire welder(got it from my dad) anyways it works pretty gud on stuff up to 1/4inch thick. i would not use it to add a roll cage to my car or truck tho! but if ur goin to use it to make mountin tabs for amps or a sub box it would do the trick...

1/4" is about the limit of a 110V MIG welder. I have a Millermatic 135 and it can handle up to 3/16" with ease, but 1/4" requires either some shouldering or multiple passes, but it can be done. Princess Auto carries Lincoln as well as Deca welders. Millers are good, but I am finding that parts like replacement guide tips are pretty specific and need to come from an authorized dealer. Flux-core can work well if used properly, but once you use gas, you probvably won't go back. Also, gas gives you the advantage of neatly welding thinner materials. Also, just a little tip, if you can afford one, auto-darkening helmets kick ***!
