What amplifier for this sub?
6 Attachment(s)
I'll start this out by saying that I am very new to this, and I have never worked with car audio before. But recently I have received a subwoofer and enclosure for free, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to try and install this in my car since I do not know the RMA so I wouldn't know what kind of an amplifier to get. I have hooked this up to an old 80W stereo amplifier I had lying around just to test that it works and it worked fine. I have checked everywhere on the subwoofer to try and find something I can use to identify it so I can find the maximum RMS power. Both the subwoofer and the box it comes in are branded "Bassworx" and the subwoofer has "TW12" printed on the back of it. All I really need to know is if this would be worth installing and if it is, what I should do about getting an amplifier because I do not know the RMA.
Below are some pictures of the subwoofer out of the enclosure. https://www.caraudioforumz.com/attac...ine=1348773854 https://www.caraudioforumz.com/attac...ine=1348773854 https://www.caraudioforumz.com/attac...ine=1348773854 Any help identifying this or other advice on what do do with it would be greatly appreciated. |
is there anyone you know around you that has an amp you could borrow to see how it sounds in your car and if its a big enough amp you can find out roughly how much the rms is by adjusting the gain until you hear it clipping then turn it down a bit.. i wouldnt buy an amp for it until you find out if its even worth it

yes the amp clips the signal that it sends to the speaker then distoring the speaker sorry i phrased that wrong

and i would try that amp out but just be careful on the gains and see if you like the output and sound of the sub. what kind of box do you have

Don't give the sub too much power, 250 watts RMS is all that is needed, for your Bassworx woofer.
